Home Ownership

27/04/2007

Would you like to own your own home? If so, then we may be able to help you. There are a number of ways to buy a home, either a new home or the one you currently live in (if you are currently a tenant).

Newbuild Homebuy (formerly Shared Ownership)

Accent Nene operates a Newbuild Homebuy programme which gives you the chance to buy a brand new home on a shared ownership basis. Under this scheme you can buy a percentage of your home (typically 50%) initially and then increase your ownership as and when you are able to. A rent is payable on the part you don't own and service charges may apply. See the property pages for homes currently available or forthcoming developments.

Potential buyers should ensure they also register with the Government's Homebuy Agent (Key Homes East) for approval for the Newbuild Homebuy scheme. Click on link below:

Outright Sale

Occasionally Accent Nene have homes for sale on the open market. Please see our property pages for details of any homes currently available.

Social Homebuy

Accent Nene has some funding available to help current tenants buy their own home on a shared ownership basis and with a discount off the open market value. Some restrictions do apply, however, so you will need to check with our Leasehold Department to see if your home is eligible. The scheme operates on a similar basis to shared ownership and purchasers will need to be eligible to take out a mortgage and able to maintain ongoing costs.

Right to Buy and Right to Acquire

This is another way for existing tenants to buy their own home with a discount, but not on a shared ownership basis. Again some restrictions do apply so please check with our Leasehold Department to see if your home is eligible.
