Q. Can I have a satellite dish?

A. You need to write in and ask for permission - the reply will depend on where you live and if there are any building restrictions in place.

Q. Can I have a shed?

A. You will need to forward this request to your housing officer and they will deal with it.

Q. Someone has broken my window- what should I do?

A. You need to report this to the police as a crime as it is vandalism. Then ring Nene and give them details of which window is broken and the crime number. We will then arrange for the window to be boarded in order to make secure and will order the glass and reglaze as soon as possible afterwards. If you do not report the incident to the police and get a crime number Nene will only make safe, ie board the window and will not reglaze.

Q. I've got a leak from my toilet/sink/bath what should I do?

A. If it is a small leak put a bucket or bowl underneath to catch the water or put a towel down. If it is a bad leak turn the water off at the stopcock - you should ensure that you know where your stopcock is and try to turn it on and off occasionally to ensure it remains free turning. Then ring the repairs department and we will arrange for a plumber to come and fix the problem.

Q. My door won't lock

A. Let Nene know as soon as possible as this means your property is insecure. We can then arrange for a contractor to sort out the problem for you thus ensuring your property is secure.

Q. I would like a grab rail (or other disabled adaptation e.g. level-access shower) can Nene provide this?

A. We are unable to make any alterations for disabled adaptations without the referral from an Occupational Therapist. You will need to contact your GP and ask for the appropriate referral. The Occupational Therapist will then contact us with their recommendations. We do however have a budget for these adaptations so we may not always be able to fund them. However other assistance may be available and full advice will be given in these circumstances.

Q. I've got a mouse in the house

A. Ring Nene Repairs and we will arrange for the local council pest control people to come out and deal with the problem.

Q. I've seen a rat in the garden / communal area

A. Ring Nene Repairs and we will arrange for the local council pest control people to come out and deal with the problem.

Q. I have a wasps / bees nest in the garden

A. Try not to disturb the wasps or bees and ring Nene. We will then arrange for the local council pest control people to come out and deal with it.

Q. The glass to the main door / windows to our block of flats is broken, what should I do?

A. Do not try to clear the glass yourself. Please contact Nene Repairs immediately and we will arrange for it to be made safe that day (glass removed and window / door boarded). We will then re-glaze the door or window as soon as possible afterwards once the replacement glass has been ordered.
