Q. Who can apply for housing?

A. Applicants should normally be aged 18 or over, although in exceptional circumstances we can accept applications from those aged 16 to 18. We aim to provide housing to people on a low income, which is usually below the average earnings for the area where they live. We do not normally house people who are already home-owners but if an applicant's home is not adequate for their needs and they are on a low income with only little savings we may be able to assist.

Q. What happens after I have made an application?

A. We normally respond to applicants within two weeks to let them know if their application is accepted or not. If accepted, a number of reasonable checks are made on a person's circumstances including a visit to where they are currently living. We can also at that time answer any questions they have. If the applicant has any special needs or requires support of any kind we will establish this early to help us fully understand their housing needs.

Q. What sort of property might I be offered?

A. We aim to offer applicants a home that best meets their need in relation to size and location Our homes are a mix of flats and houses and which type applicants are offered will mainly depend on their household composition and any medical needsApplicants are generally able to state a preference for the location they would like to live but as vacancies are limited we encourage applicants to provide us with as wide a choice as possible If applicants have any support, medical or disability needs we try to match those needs with the type of accommodation offered

Q. Does Accent Nene provide a waiting list for all homes?

A. The way homes are allocated varies from area to area. Although we do not have a waiting list for all areas, we do in each area have a means of allocating homes which is fair and transparent in line with our policy.

Q. If I am already a tenant of Accent Nene how do I apply to move?

A. There are various ways an tenant of Accent Nene can move from their existing home, the main ones being a Transfer and a Mutual Exchange.
