Leaseholders of Accent Nene generally live in flats they have been purchased through the Right to Buy or Right to Acquire schemes. Some leaseholders live in schemes designated for older people, these are known as Leasehold Schemes for Older People. You will have bought your home on a long lease usually between 99 and 125 years (shorter, if you purchased from a previous owner). You can purchase a lease outright or with a mortgage. Accent Nene owns the freehold of the scheme and also provides a management and maintenance service for communal areas.
As a lessee your legal rights in respect of the individual dwelling are similar to that of freeholders.
