Sheltered Housing

01/01/2008

Accent Nene has two types of accommodation for older people generally known as supported housing.

Sheltered housing (also known as category 2 housing) and elderly independent (also known as category 1 housing). The age for entering sheltered accommodation is 60 and for elderly independent schemes residents are 55 years old and over.

In some circumstances people under these age thresholds may require sheltered housing. This includes people with severe disabilities who need support.

Most of our accommodation is rental however we have some homes that are owner occupied (leasehold). Our aim is to provide homes for older persons or those with disabilities who require some form of supported housing, and who also wish to live independently.
