Agreement will create hundreds of new homes

Hundreds of new affordable homes will be provided across the North of England as part of an agreement signed between the Accent Group Consortium and the Homes and Communities Agency.

The consortium has been awarded £15m to deliver 663 new affordable homes across the North West and Yorkshire & Humberside over the next four years.

On hearing the news Accent Group Chief Executive Gordon Perry said: "We are delighted to be able to continue our very successful arrangements with our consortium partners, and deliver many more, much needed, affordable homes for people in need."

"We are pleased that the HCA has chosen to allocate this funding to us, and we hope to deliver our new homes by working collaboratively with our consortium partners, local authorities and the Homes and Communities Agency.”

Naz Parkar of the Homes and Communities Agency said: "It's great that the Homes and Communities Agency is able to support the Accent Group Consortium with over £15 million to help the group meet the needs of its residents. The 663 new homes that the money will pay for, will make a real difference to people, enabling them to live in the home of their choice in a way that they can afford."

The Accent Group Consortium was formed in 2006, and has received around  £200m in grant to build homes. The consortium consists of Accent’s three main housing associations - Accent Foundation, Accent Nene and Accent Peerless, and other independent associations based across the Yorkshire and Humberside and North West regions, namely Arcon, Equity, Harrogate Families, Johnnie Johnson, Leeds Federated, Muir Group, St Vincent’s and Unity.
